ArHi FF: Book 1~The Unexpected... Became the Expected Chapter 18

I don't normally update for this FF often,

but yesterday I had an idea for this FF and hence I decided to write it.

Chapter 18

As Khushi stood there with wide eyes, she registered what Arnav had just said.

“You’re right… it’s all your fault!”

How was it her fault?

If he hadn’t made Anjali loosen her grip on Khushi, then probably today both of them would have been in the hospital. But Arnav didn’t want to understand this.

He believed what he wanted to believe. And right now he believed she had done all this. It was bedt for her to keep quite until he calms down.

If she retaliates and shows her anger to him, then it might as well worsen the situation. Right now, he was in no mood of romancing and he was in denial.

He didn’t want to take the blame on himself that because of him, his Di fell. So that’s why he was behaving this way.

Khushi walked out of the hospital with tears. She was upset at Arnav’s outrage, but she knew that it wasn’t his fault. He needed her the most right now but at the same time he didn’t need her.

Her only option left was to simply leave him alone.

Arnav was still outside the Operation room, and he saw through the window as Khushi sat in the auto, with her hand on her yet flat belly.

He had signaled Akash that he’s going to check on Khushi and he understood that.

Arnav entered Shaantivan as he found it to be empty. Of course it was empty. Everyone was at the hospital except for Khushi.

He had followed her auto, and he had seen her car coming towards Shaantivan. As he looked around, he couldn’t find her at all.

And then, suddenly he found her in the kitchen, sobbing. Her back was faced towards him.

As much as Arnav wanted to apologize to her for his behaviour, something was pulling him back. And he knew that if he didn’t apologize today, then this would be the first step to convince Khushi that he didn’t care less about her condition.

“I’m sorry…” he slightly whispered, causing her to jump.

He was still at a 10 feet distance from her, and she still never turned back.

She continued sobbing and one thing he noticed through this whole process was that she wasn’t standing straight. As if she was in pain and crying.

He moved forward and then he understood, as he saw her clutch her belly in pain.

“Khushi!” he rubbed her shoulders causing her to scream.

She couldn’t hold the pain anymore. She didn’t care what he would think about her. All she cared was that she was in deep pain, and she needed the doctor.

“Doctor!” Khushi yelled.

Arnav dialed the number and in no time her doctor and her friend was here.

“Raina how’s she doing…” Arnav looked at Khushi though the door.

“She’s having some minor pains. Like I told you before… keep her happy. You know she had recently had her miscarriage and now her condition is very critical. Don’t give her any stress and don’t pressurize her for anything…” Raina explained.

Arnav simply nodded and lead her way out. As they were standing at the gates of Shaantivan, Raina spoke again.

“Am I just randomly noticing things, or is it true that Khushi took some sort of medication?”

Raina earned a deathly glare from Arnav and she couldn’t help but whisper a small ‘sorry’.

“What’s she taking…” Raina nudged him.

“I don’t know myself. She never tells me anything now… I just don’t even know what’s going on right now.” Arnav sighed.

“Then you have to know otherwise it might be too late and she’ll be gone before you realize.” Raina walked out.

Arnav was blank upon hearing her words.

‘What did she mean?’

Arnav walked inside and made his way up the stairs to their room. He saw Khushi laying there in bed with the blanket covering ¾ of her body and her eyes shut. He could hear her heavy breathing, but he could see the peace written on her face.

As he sat beside her, pushing the strand of hair back, he placed a small lingering kiss on her forehead, mumbling “I love you”.

Her eyes opened wide as she heard him, and pushed him aside. Her head rest on the back wall, as she faced the other way not wanting to see his face.

“I’m sorry…” he whispered.

She still didn’t have anything to say. As she just simply let tears roll down her eyes, which weren’t unnoticed by Arnav.

“Raina said you’re taking some medication… what are you taking…” Arnav slightly asked her, placing his hand above hers.

She slid it away and just replied a “Hmm”

He knew that she was in no mood of talking and hence he walked out to the poolside, as she slid back in bed.

After many twists and turns, Khushi sighed and looked outside, only to find Arnav’s back facing her. She herself was feeling so cold and wondered how Arnav was standing there all alone.

She stepped out of her bed and opened the sliding door, her hand on his shoulder caused him to jerk back.

“What are you doing here… go back inside…” he insisted her.

She simply held his hand and led him inside with her. “Go to bed…” she said without looking at him.

“I’m sorry…” he said in tears.

Khushi turned around and cupped his face in her palms. Wiping the tears which were rolling down his eyes made her eyes all watery.

“If you don’t take out your anger at me then who will you take it out on hmm?” she laughed while crying with him.

“I’m sorry…” he rest his forehead against hers.

“It’s ok…” Khushi kissed his nose.

They both slid in bed together as Arnav put his hand on her waist to pull her close to him, making her just smile.

“Good night…” he nuzzled her neck.

“Mhhmm… good night…” she put her hands above his.

Falling asleep, Arnav completely forgot about Anjali and what Raina had told him about the medication Khushi had taken.

Khushi opened her eyes and found a heavy arm wrapped around her waist. His chin was still on her shoulder, and she felt a bit stiff.

She slightly pushed him off, and as she stood in front of the mirror, looking at her now red shoulder, her mouth was wide.

She turned back and marched her way towards him.

“You! Because of you my shoulder is all red!” Khushi shouted at him as she hit him with her pillow.

“Khushi let me sleep!” Arnav mumbled and put a pillow above his ears not to hear Khushi shouting.

“Arrrrghh! Laad Governor!” Khushi yelled as she tackled him.

He was pinned below him as she was hitting him with her small hands.

He was laughing and yelling “Oww” several times, only earning more beatings from Khushi.

“I’m sorry Khushi… oww!” Arnav pinned her below him now.

“You… Laad… Governor!” Khushi said while taking deep breaths.

He was about to kiss her as she pushed him aside and ran to the washroom, locking the door behind. Arnav sighed and rolled his eyes.

“First it’s always Naani and Di who always disturb me and Khushi and now it’s Khushi who disturbs herself and me! This family is crazy!” Arnav pushed the duvet aside.

And suddenly he remembered, “Di!” he said in shock.

His hand went through his hair as he kept cursing himself for not being there for her. He noticed his phone had more that 43 missed calls from Akash as he dialed back.

“Yeah Akash how’s Di?” he asked.

“Bhai I called you over 40 times and you didn’t pick up…” Akash spoke with some anger.

“My phone was on silent… and I had an emergency…” Arnav replied.

“What was more of an emergency than Di’s miscarriage?” Akash asked.

“Yeah I know I was supposed to be there for Di… What!” he shouted as he realized what Akash had just told him.

“Di had a miscarriage…” Akash closed his eyes.

“How is she… I’m coming there!” Arnav abruptly cut the call and he quickly put on some cloths. He made his way down the stairs and told Hari Prakash to tell Khushi he was at the hospital. He didn’t even care less to take a shower, and simply drove to the hospital.

All I can say for now is that something BIG is coming up.
