Chapter 20B

“What the!” Arnav’s face had the sudden shock.

“Haan Chhotte… yeh sabse accha plan hai…” Naani was delighted.

“Do you even realize what you’re saying Naani?” Arnav stood completely shocked.

“Naani is right Bhai…” Akash interrupted.

“You too Akash? Has this family gone crazy?”

“Arnavji… Khushi would love it…” Payal squealed.

“I’ve brought the paint home Nannav…” NK walked in with 6 cans of paint, along with Hari Prakash and Jai Prakash.

‘Seriously? A business man was going to paint a room?’ Arnav closed his eyes.

“Om Prakshji kamar ko set kar rahe hai…” NK continued.

At that moment everyone had burst into laughter. “NK bhai kamra… kamar nahi…” Akash corrected him.

“Haan vahi vahi…”

“I’m not doing this Naani…” Arnav stood up to leave, only to be pulled back.

Naani pulled Arnav’s ear as he begged for mercy, “Ouch Naani… please let go of my ear…”

“Apne nahi liye toh kamse kam Khushi bitiya aur apn hone waale bache ke liye toh karlo!” she pulled his ear even more.

“Naani the baby still has time… abhi toh 8 months pade hai…”

“Toh! Phele se aane waale mehemaan kii tayaariaan kiijiye!” she dragged him to the room, along with the Prakash brothers holding the paint buckets.

Anjali was watching everything. For her, no one cared about her daughter’s room. Aysha only got a plain pink room with white furniture. It was filled with teddy bears, but Anjali couldn’t digest the fact that Khushi’s unborn child was already being pampered.

“Chhotte’s right Naani… abhi uuske baby ko aane mein kitna waqt pada hai… Chhotte why don’t you paint Aysha’s room?” she smiled.

“Arre Anjali bitiya… Daamaadji hai na… who kardeinge… Chhotte toh apn Chhotte ke kamre ko sajayeinge..."

Anjali faked a smile and let the topic go. She couldn’t argue, and neither could she protest, hence she simply went back to her room.

“NK!” Arnav yelled his name.

Hearing no response, Arnav called him again, “NK get your ass down here!”

“Whats happends Arnav bitwa?” Maami came in all worried.

“NK bought 4 different paint colours!”

“Toh ka huwa bitwa…”

“Maami a room is painted 1 colour… not 4 different colours…” he looked at her all confused.

“Nannav… this is a baby’s room not a black and white picture’s room. If your room is dull, it doesn’t mean that my Niece or Nephew will also have a dull room…” NK bit into his apple.

He chewed as Arnav looked at him with a funny look, “You’re saying that you’re going to make this room look like a rainbow? With colours like red, white, blue and gold?” he laughed.

“Ya Nannav… its better than black, brown or maroon!”

“No… I’m painting it white…” Arnav refused.

“No no Arnav bitwa… how borings!” Maami made a disgusting face.

“I know what I’m doing… after all it is my child too!” he gritted his teeth.

Khushi looked at Arnav as he brought in loads and loads of teddy bears, he bought a crib, some wall stickers as well. He had bought something else as well, but she couldn’t see it, as it was in a bag.

Arnav walked in their room and placed everything, and he kept the bag with him. He left their room heading towards their baby’s room.

Khushi stood behind the door, watching him paint the room plain white.

“Laad Governor! He lives in his own black and white world and now he wants our baby to have the same choice as him!” she muttered.

By the time she looked up, Arnav stood in front of her, holding balloons. They seemed more of water balloons.

“I did my part… now it’s your turn to make this white room, filled with colours just like you filled my black and white world with colour…” he handed her a balloon.

She had a wide smile playing at her lips as she took hold of a balloon. Her excitement level had reached its heights as she threw the balloon on the wall.

The yellow paint splattered across the wall, and Arnav handed another one. This time it was red. Green, purple, orange, blue, pink and many various colours were splattered across the room.

The room was now filled with numerous colours. Arnav watched her throwing balloon after balloon on the wall.

‘How is she going to handle our baby when she herself is a baby?’ he asked himself.

“Last one…” he said.

“Your turn…” she handed him the balloon.

He took it from her hand and threw it on the wall. The silver paint spread across the wall, as it changed the effect of the room.

“Perfect…” she smiled.

Arnav looked at her delighted face. She was satisfied with their baby’s room. “It’s beautiful…” she hugged him tight.

“It is…” he smiled.

“Arnavji… how long will it take!” she pouted.

Khushi was standing outside the room, waiting for him to come out so that she could see the final look of their baby’s room.

“2 minutes Khushi…” he said from inside.

“It’s been half an hour that you’ve been saying 2 minutes! When will your 2 minutes finish!” she kicked the door.

Finally he opened it, and quickly covered her eyes with a black cloth.

“Seriously Arnavji! I want to see the room!” she whined.

“You will… patience…”

Arnav guided her in the room and counted, “One. Two. Three…” he untied the cloth from her eyes.

Khushi opened her eyes, and the image of their baby’s room brought tears in her eyes.

“Don’t you like it?” he asked her… afraid of her response.

“It’s so cute…” and by now tears had started rolling down her eyes.

“Then why are you crying?” he turned her around to face him.

“Because… you won’t understand! Khushi ke aasoo hai…” she sniffed.

“I know they’re your tears but at least tell me why are you crying? Is there something missing?” he asked.

“They’re tears of happiness you duffer!” she hugged him tight.

“Mood swings…” he muttered.

Arnav earned a punch at his chest, his wife was no less than a tigress. “I heard that!”

Arnav laughed and placed a soft kiss at her forehead. Oh how he wished that everything would remain as it is. And how the happiness would float around… but was it possible if he had a devil in the house?
