FF: His Dulhan| Chapter 1 - Mission Chhotte's Dulhan

Chapter One| Mission Chhotte's Dulhan

“Yeh waali?”
“Nahi, this one Naani.”
“Nahi nahi, Anjali, yeh waali zyaada acchi hai.”
“No Naani, Chhotte will like this one.
“Arre nahi Anjali betiya, Chhotte ke liye yeh waali zyaada acchi hai.”
This was not just today’s melodrama, it was every day’s drama. By the evening, a pandit always showed up at Shaantivan with a ton of photographs of young girls for the very handsome bachelor in the house: Arnav Singh Raizada.
Now one would think, why the need to find a girl for Arnav if he was handsome? Was he not already in a relationship with a girl?
Nope.
Arnav Singh Raizada was never the type for relationships.
Now apart from being young, and handsome, a girl would also want her partner to be sweet, caring, and a gentleman. But, Arnav was the complete opposite.
First of all, he was the type of guy who only focused on his family and his job. After years of studying Business, he was finally able to create his own textiles company. Now his designs were sold internationally and he made millions.
Check off him being a multi-millionaire as well. Now being filthy rich did bring a lot of proposals for him, but of course no girl wanted him for his personality, but instead for his money.
Mission Chhotte’s Dulhan was created by Arnav’s older sister Anjali and his loving Naani. They were out on a mission to find the perfect dulhan for Arnav; one who wanted to be with Arnav because she loved him, not his money and one who also loved Arnav’s family.
This was tough.
But the mission was on!
“Chhotte Chhotte Chhotte come here!” Anjali yelled from the living room.
Arnav flicked his Bluetooth off and glanced over at his sister, “What is it Di?”
“Come here at least!”
Both Naani and Anjali giggled like school girls and shoved two photographs in Arnav’s face.
“Look at her, isn’t she so pretty?” Anjali boasted.
“Arre nahi nahi Chhotte, yeh waali dekho!” Naani pushed aside Anjali’s photo.
Arnav eyed both women with a look of confusion. While both women were back to fits of arguments, Arnav sneakily stepped aside and sprinted towards the front door.
Time to go to office!
“Yup, Aman, just get the new designs out – they’re in the navy blue file. Mr. Gupta would want to see them.” Arnav struggled unlocking his car.
Just as he was about to open his door, Anjali came running towards his car. “Shit! Aman I will call you back.” Arnav cut the call in a hurry and quickly shut his car door behind.
“No Di, I’m not hearing a word! I’ve got a meeting… you and Naani should continue your argument, I need to go to office – okay bye, see you at night!” he yelled through his window.
Anjali frowned and crossed her arms in frustration. Even today Arnav got away because of her argument with Naani.
“He’s gone again Naani!” she yelled while running back inside home.
“Arre koi baat nahi Anjali betiya. Who Guptaji ki beti wahi hai aaj. Uss meeting mein.” Naani winked at Anjali and sat on the sofa with a triumph smile.
Anjali had the look of shock with her jaw hanging open and eyes wide. Her Naani had her ways of getting what she wants.

“Sorry I’m late Mr. Gupta,” Arnav quickly shut the door behind and placed his laptop bag on the table. After setting up the projector with his laptop, he was just about to start his presentation that someone else barged into the room.
“Sorry I’m late dad.” The door was yet again closed while the petite girl rushed towards an empty seat. Arnav eyed her with confusion and slight uncertainty.
He had never seen this girl nor heard of her, and here she was in his office.
“I’m so sorry Arnav, this is my daughter and she’s here to get better experience in business.” Mr. Gupta caught Arnav’s attention.
Arnav nodded and started his presentation.
At all times, his attention was diverted to the young girl sitting beside his business partner. He couldn’t even keep in mind that the girl he was checking out was supposedly his business partner’s daughter and yet Arnav continued eyeing her.
“And here are some of the printed designs we have in mind for the following month.” Arnav held out the navy blue file. Surprisingly, the girl took hold of the file and met eyes with Arnav.
“Is it okay if I look at them?” she asked with a smile.
Arnav fumbled with words, and couldn’t help but nod.
“Dad I think this one’s really nice, the saree’s blouse seems different and it’ll trend real fast.” The look on her face was of fascination.
“You seem to have a lot of fashion sense.” Arnav was finally able talk.
“Umm yeah, I’ve got a fashion degree.” She simply replied.
Mr. Gupta suddenly butted in, “But she also has a minor in business and she’s planning on joining our business.” He beamed.
Arnav nodded in acknowledgment but could see the look of discomfort on the girl’s face.
Clearly, she was not interested in business.
When people began to leave, Arnav too began to gather all his files to go back to his own office. Mr. Gupta had already left with everyone else, and then there was his daughter. Still in the room.
“Your designs.” She held out his given file.
Arnav nodded and took hold of the file. “I didn’t get a chance to introduce myself, I’m Arnav and I think you’re aware that I work with your father.”
“Yeah, my dad’s always talking about business at home and you’re the first he mentions at dinner. I’m Khushi.” She held her hand out for Arnav to shake.
Shouldn’t he be doing that?
And they shook hands, “You’ve got great designs, just that for the one that I said I really liked, on page 12,” Khushi started and flipped to the page she was talking about, “the designs are nice, just the colour. Maybe if the colour combination was re-thought about then it would be perfect.” She smiled at Arnav.
“What’s your thought on the colour?” Arnav inquired.
“The purple will look much better with a parrot green rather than red.” She spoke truthfully.
“I’ll keep that in mind.” He agreed and wrapped up his stuff to leave.
Khushi too stood up to leave, but before that, Arnav stopped near the door, “Thanks.” He marveled.
She let out a small smile of acknowledgement, “No problem.”
Wasn’t that a fresh start?
